A Journey Home Spanning a Century

A century ago, more than 100,000 ordinary Chinese people bid farewell to their homeland and crossed the ocean to serve on the European battlefields of World War I. Amid the gunfire, they wore no military uniforms and carried no steel rifles; instead, they dug trenches, transported supplies, and cleared battlefields, shouldering the heaviest and most dangerous logistical burdens on the front lines with their own blood, sweat, and toil. The smoke of battle buried the homecoming of countless nameless souls, and no medals were ever bestowed on this group of labourers who had journeyed across the vast ocean.
